Property, Plant and Equipment Working Paper is not rolling forward previous years ending balances. How do I resolve this issue?

The box is checked to Roll Forward Caseview balances.

Hi Robin.

If the opening balances in your Capital Assets working papers were not updated when you ran the year-end close & roll-forward function in CaseWare, chances are the balances in all the other working papers used in the file were also not updated.

The most likely reason for this is that the checkbox “Update CaseView Roll Forward Cells” (indicated in the screenshot below) was not checked off when you ran the roll-forward function.

You can run the year-end procedure on the prior-period file again, using a different file name and ensuring that this checkbox is checked off. You can then use the Copy Components function to copy the working papers that were not previously updated correctly, from this secondary rolled-forward file into the file you have commenced work on.

If this is definitely not the cause, please contact the support team using the contact details provided on the support centre www.jazzitsupport.com, so they can investigate and determine the cause.

I hope this helps,
David

If you have properly selected CaseView documents to roll forward on year end close this may be the issue:

An invalid CaseView file (.CVW) in the client directory will also cause the roll forward to halt and CaseView documents that were to be processed after this file will not roll forward properly.

In this example the file highlighted was not on the CaseWare document manager and was causing the roll forward to halt.  You should only have CVW files in the client folder which relate to actual documents on your CaseWare document manager.  By default the document identifier is a maximum of 8 characters with the first character being alpha.

We strongly recommend you properly backup your CaseWare client file before deleting any .cvw files within the client directory.

Good Morning,
I have checked our file for this issue and this is not the case. Is there any more recent information relating to caseview rollforward issues?
Thank you,
Courtney

Hi Courtney.

If you have multiple working papers in the CaseWare file and there is only one (or a few?) not updating correctly on roll-forward, then there may be a setting (or document) in the file interrupting the roll-forward function before it processes these, preventing them from being updated correctly.

Could you please contact the support team using the contact information provided on jazzitsupport.com, so they can assist you with this?

Thank you,
David

Did you find a solution to this.  We have had the same issue. Everything in year end close is checked off, but there is an error that comes up during roll forward “error opening caseview document” and some of the caseview documents do not roll forward.  I have been unsuccessful in determining which document is causing the issue.
