It is important that ALL workstations see the same path when accessing the resource center.
The situation that arises is a partner applies their e-signature with password on templates and then saves and closes the CaseWare file. Someone at a different workstation opens the file in order to print the templates but they notice that the e-signatures are off.
The issue is usually a result of workstations accessing the client directory from a different path to the client directory.
In a server environment, the path to the client directory on workstations should be through a mapped drive such as S:\CaseWare\Data\. If the path to the client directory is different between workstations (eg. another workstation would see the S: drive as Z:) then it will likely cause the e-signature to disappear after it is opened on a different workstation than where it was originally signed. The e-signature disappears as a result of security added to protect the use of the e-signature.
If you review all workstations and see the path to the client directory is not identical, you will need to ask your IT people to make revisions for you. This requirement also applies if you are accessing remotely using Terminal Services. For example, if a partner is working from home and applies their e-signature to a financial statement, the path they are using to access the client directory via Terminal Services needs to be the same as those who are working within the office. If it is not, the e-signature may disappear.
Note as well that we do not recommend using paths to the Resource Center and client directories that use an address such as \\servername instead of a mapped drive letter as in the past this has appeared to cause intermittent issues with connecting to the Resource Center.
